Blake and I are in the frozen north of South Fork, Colorado with our friend Ted. Since South Fork is a pretty tiny place, I’m spending the evenings searching for officiants and caterers and florists. Today I also created a page for any wedding FAQs you might have.

Wedding location selected: Buescher Park!

We’ve decided to get married at Buescher State Park in Smithville, Texas. It’s a beautiful rustic location with an outdoor stone terrace and a wooded clearing behind the hall that overlooks Buescher Lake through a thin layer of live oaks, black oaks, and cottonwood trees. (Or so the park ranger told us. Aside form the live oaks, I’m just taking his word for it.) We visited last week to check out the place and here we are in the clearing at sunset:

The hall itself is pretty rustic and I think it’ll fit our needs just perfectly. Out in front there’s ample parking and some playground equipment for kids, and in the back there are picnic tables and big picturesque trees draped with Spanish moss. Everything’s brown now, but I can’t wait to see it when it’s lush and green!

It’s so exciting! Having a location makes everything so tangible. Now everything else can be planned and it feels so much more real. The near future is slightly less nebulous. =)
